With community service deeply rooted in our DNA, since inception, Vistara has always strived to support communities in the areas where it operates. And as the organisation grows, we want our communities to grow with us and ensure we grow sustainably. It is this philosophy of empowering communities and protecting the environment that is echoed in ‘Vistara Nurtures’.

Whether it is inspiring young minds, empowering talent, or preserving the planet, as we scale up and grow, we want to keep nurturing the communities we operate in for a better tomorrow.

Vistara’s current fleet of Airbus A320neo, A321neo and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft are powered by advanced technologies and systems, resulting in reduction of engine noise, nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions.

And over the past few years, we have adopted various operational measures including but not limited to electronic flight bags, biodegradable and reusable cutlery, and smart lavatories which are all small strides towards a sustainable future. Under Vistara Green Miles, we also recycle the previous editions of our inflight magazine. 

In March 2023, we became the first carrier in India to operate a wide-body aircraft on a long-haul route using Sustainable Aviation Fuel. With a 30% SAF blend, we reduced around 150,000 pounds of CO₂ emissions on our new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight from Charleston, USA to Delhi, India. Additionally, we also became the first Indian carrier to operate a commercial flight on a wide-body aircraft using SAF from Delhi to Mumbai, using a blend of 17% SAF with 83% conventional jet fuel. On this flight, were able to reduce around 10,000 pounds of CO2 emissions, reinforcing our long-term commitment towards sustainable aviation.

In yet another industry-first initiative, we implemented Aerowash, and automatic aircraft exterior washing and cleaning solution. The nearly waterless, dry-wash process allows us to save resources, prevent structural damage, and enhance fuel efficiency by reducing aerodynamic drag. 

Our flagship programme for disaster relief, Vistara Wellness Initiative, aims to make nutrition and hygiene accessible to the disadvantaged. Since the programme’s inception in April 2020, we've supported 50,000+ individuals across the country by distributing over 4,00,000 food and sanitation items.

The Board of Directors of the Company has constituted the Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Safety Committee under the Chairmanship of Mr. S Padmanabhan with Mr. Lik Hsin Lee and Ms. Alice Geevarghese Vaidyan as its members. Vistara’s CSR Policy can be accessed here.
