Travelling with a Service Dog

We are committed to ensuring the utmost comfort and safety for all our customers. In this regard, we are pleased to provide assistance to customers with disabilities who wish to travel with their service dogs when flying with us.

If you are travelling with a service dog, please inform Vistara at least 48 hours prior to your departure flight and share the required documents (refer to the documentation below) with the Vistara Customer Relations team. We also recommend that you reach the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure.

Vistara will make every reasonable effort to accommodate a service dog if less notice is unavoidable.

Onboard & Seating                                                                           

The service dog must be kept on a leash at all times. The customer is required to carry a muzzle and a moisture-absorbent mat to be placed on the floor. The service dog will be allowed to sit in front of the customer's seat on the moisture-absorbent mat.

We will try to allocate an appropriate seat with more space for you and your service dog.

Service dogs are not permitted in the Business Class cabin owing to safety concerns.

Documentation

Vistara staff will ask for necessary documents from customers travelling with a service dog.

Domestic Travel – Please keep the below-mentioned relevant documents handy at the airport during check-in.

o   Dog Health Certification

o   Rabies Vaccination Certificate

o   Service dog Training Certificate from an appropriate institute

International Travel
- In the case of International travel, apart from the above-mentioned documents, some countries require clearance documents and quarantine for a period before being allowed into the country. You are required to check and comply with all the necessary regulations before flying.

o   Clearance from the Embassy (consulate of the country)

o   Quarantine Document

o   Animal Passport

o   Import/Export Formalities Document

Customers travelling on Interline & Codeshare flights:

In case you are travelling on Interline and/or Codeshare flights, please check the guidelines of each operating carrier and obtain separate approval or clearance from the carrier.

Carry On Baggage

Carry On Baggage allowance would be in accordance with your booking class and cabin. You are advised to include items necessary for the service dog’s journey in your carry-on baggage for easy access.

Service Dog would not be accepted under the following conditions:

  • Service dog is too large or heavy to be accommodated in the cabin.
  • Pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
  • Cause a significant disruption in the cabin.
